Contributions 

 Concessional Contributions Caps for 2011/2012:

·          Under age 50 (at 30 June 2012) is $25,000;

·          Age 50 and over (at 30 June 2012) is $50,000.

 

Concessional Contributions are: 

        Employer contributions, including contributions made to cover the cost of basic insurance
     (if applicable);

        Any salary sacrifice (before tax) contributions;

        Any bonus that is salary sacrificed; and

        9% Superannuation Guanantee (SG) on any bonus paid to you in cash (unless maximum SG has
     been met).

NB - Special rules apply to Special Consideration Group and Defined Benefit Division Members.

Non-concessional Contributions

These are after-tax contributions with a cap of $150,000 per annum if you are under age 65 and up to $450,000 with the bring forward rule. For those aged over 65 it is $150,000 per annum provided the work test is met.
